Welcome to Term 3 and the start of Semester 2. It has been wonderful to see all the learners back in school and so engaged in their learning. Do take a look at the 'News From the Year Groups' section to see some of the exciting activities that have been taking place over the last two weeks. A warm welcome to our new learners and their families. We hope you have experienced the wonderful community 'feeling' as you have joined the Nexus 'family'. Please do reach out to me if you have any comments or questions.
Our school continues to go from strength to strength and we have opened two new classes for this semester, one in Kindergarten and one in Year 2. Ms Clare joins us as the KW Homeroom Teacher and Ms Katie is the 2Y Homeroom Teacher. Mr Russell joins our HPE team and Ms Tanya and Ms Sook join our team of fantastic Classroom Assistants.
As we start the semester, I would like to outline the key ways we communicate with our families. Please make sure that you connect with these various channels so that you can best support your child in their learning journey. First, our fortnightly newsletter is a crucial part of our communication with our whole community. It is where we include information about any upcoming events, our recent happenings and also, post important notices.
This week, our main event has been the Year 6 Film Festival 2021. On Wednesday, learners and families of Year 6 enjoyed a glamorous Film Festival event, complete with a digital red carpet on the Grand Staircase and theatre curtains along the walkway. On Friday, the whole of the Primary School also had the opportunity to experience some of the films and even enjoyed a tub of tasty popcorn. Take a look at the 'Recent Events' section for some photos from this amazing event.
In the 'Important Notices' section, there are a few announcements to read. In particular, please make sure you add to your diaries the Learning Conferences on Friday, 5 February and book your appointment through the Parent Portal.
In addition to the fortnightly newsletter, the other important communication channels at Nexus are:
Your child's class SeeSaw account - log in to have a 'window in the classroom' and see the learning experiences your child is engaged with
Class WhatsApp Groups to connect with other families in your child's homeroom
Our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pg/nexusinternationalschoolsingapore) for the latest school-wide news.
Finally, may I remind families that lessons start promptly at 8.25am. Therefore, we strongly encourage learners to arrive on site NO LATER THAN 8.15am to make sure they have sufficient time to make their way to the Learning Hubs.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
Paul Beach
