From our Head of Primary

Sneak Peek

At long last we were able to open the doors of our new school for a sneak peek inside. Our new school is fantastic and it was a magical occasion to share with our learners, families and staff.

Over the next two months we will complete all the final fittings, furniture deliveries and move to have it ready for you. We look forward to seeing you all in our new home in January.

Pebbles

Meanwhile, at our current campus we have been preparing for our move.

Learners and staff have painted pebbles which will begin to form a display, to take a part of our current campus over to our new home. Each pebble is as unique as each individual who designed it and the resulting pebble artwork will represent the rich diversity of our community. This week all employees and the Board of Directors also had the opportunity to contribute their creativity to further expand our growing work. We hope to have our parents add to our collection of pebbles when we arrive at our new school.

Huge thanks to our Visual Arts team putting together this wonderful project.

In classes and assemblies, we have been starting to share with learners more about our move to the new school. Through a range of activities we are beginning to support our learners in making connections between this learning space and the next, thinking about what will change and what will stay the same. We know that change means taking some risks and change creates a range of emotions, such as sadness, anxiety and excitement. We would encourage you to explore these emotions with your children at home and help them to recognise that we all experience these feelings and that is what makes change special and so memorable.

As we are preparing for the move to our new school, our Christmas celebrations will be on a slightly smaller scale this year. On Thursday, 5 December we have our 'Mini' Merry Christmas Fair. Our cafeteria will remain open for drinks and snacks, our wonderful NPG will be providing some extra tasty treats and our older learners have been invited to run games stalls for us all to enjoy. All profits from the games and activities will go to the charities that Nexus supports. Meanwhile there will be two festive Carols by Candlelight performances, one at 4pm and one at 6pm. Tickets for these will be available soon. Details of the arrangements for the performances are available in the Arts Section.

Over the next two weeks, our Nursery and Kindergarten learners will be starting their festivies with the Phase 1 Christmas Marketplace on Tuesday, 3 December. Meanwhile, Year 1 will be hosting their Mini Exhibtion and the Year 4 learners will be travelling to Malacca explore the cultures that make up such a vibrant city. This weekend boys and girls from across the school have travelled to the British International School of Phuket to participate in one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the region. We wish them lots of luck!
