The emphasis for Nursery has been on basic skills such as kicking and blowing bubbles and played games that involved picking up floating toys and wading across the pool.
In Kindergarten, the emphasis was placed on independent swims up to 25m. They had to collect toys from the deep end of the pool in order to develop their ability to hold their breath for longer durations.
Year 1 and 2 learners are still developing their side breathing in front crawl using different drills and practise swims. Advanced learners also refined their diving from the side of the pool.
Year 3 to 6 learners have been working on breaststroke skills such as kicking, holding body position, timing and gliding. They practised land-based drills to improve their understanding of breaststroke pulling, kicking techniques and develop muscle memory.
All learners also refined their dive starts from the blocks, with emphasis on holding the streamlined position after leaving the blocks.
