Early next week, we will email all our Primary families to introduce you to the Primary School NPG Class Representatives for this academic year. Every class in our primary school has parent representatives. We are a school that prides itself on our strong community relationships and the NPG Class Representatives take on an informal role to build a network between the families in each class.
One parent representative from each class will be administering a WhatsApp group that is open to all parents of the learners in the class. The Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) does not allow us to share your personal information with the representatives. Instead, these representatives have agreed to share their mobile phone number with you, so that you can connect with them.
If you would like to join this informal class group, simply send a text to the representative for your child's class with the following information:
If you have children in different classes please text the representative of each class.
Once again, thank to all the NPG Class Representatives for supporting our school community. We are sure that you will find this informal social network very valuable throughout the year ahead in Nexus Primary School.
To make sure we keep everyone safe, we have a few simple expectations of our community as we arrive and leave the school. Please may we ask you to support us by following these expectations and modelling safe movement around our campus.
1) We ask all adults to wear their passes at all times when on campus. If you don't yet have your pass, please see Student Services.
2) We ask everyone to walk around the campus, especially near the roads and around the stairwells.
3) We ask everyone not to use 'wheels' (scooters, skates, bikes) once in the main campus area.
4) If arriving by taxi, please ask your driver to go through the Bus Bay and drop you off at the Taxi Drop-Off Point.
5) At the start of the day, we ask all Primary families to wait in the cafeteria until 8.15am.
6) At the end of the day, please wait for your children in the correct locations to keep the Pod entrances and stairwells clear.
Many thanks for your support.
Below is our School Bus Essential Agreement. This is also available in the Parent and Learner Handbook. If your child uses the School Bus service please make sure that you have shared these expectations with them. For the safety and wellbeing of everyone riding the buses, children who regularly choose not to follow our Essential Agreement will be suspended from using the service.
Learners in Nursery, Kindergarten and Years 1 and 2 may have a pre-paid school meal or bring a packed lunch from home. All other learners may have the pre-paid school meal, make their own choice of food from our cafeteria or bring a packed lunch.
If you would like your child to have the pre-paid meal please click here for a link to the page of our website with ‘The Lunch Ordering Menu’. Packed lunches and snacks from home should be healthy - sweets, chocolates or fizzy drinks should NOT be included. It is easier for your child to manage if the snack and packed-lunch are in separate containers.
Learners in Years 3 to 6 may make their own selections from the cafeteria. We encourage them to always choose balanced and healthy options. Please support us with this by reminding children at home to make good choices.
At Friday snacktime, children in Years 3 to 6 may choose from any items in the cafeteria, including treats such as crisps and cakes.
A number of children and staff have severe nut allergies. For this reason, our cafeteria does not sell any products containing nuts. We also expect families not to provide their children with nuts or products containing nuts in their snack or lunch boxes. This is particularly true for our younger learners who are always interested in what other children are eating.
On Wednesday next week you will notice large banners around school to remind families to carry out Bug-Busting checks. The Bug-Busting Method is a systematic approach to the eradication of head lice. All learners, parents and guardians are encouraged to follow the guidelines as stated below. We strongly encourage the ‘Bug-Busting’ method to be carried out on each child every week, and form part of the normal routine.
Weekly Bug-Busting Procedure:
1. Wash hair and rinse as normal. Apply a good quantity of hair conditioner to wet hair, ensuring coverage from root to tip.
2. Comb the hair with a normal comb to untangle hair strands.
3. Part hair in small sections to check for live lice and eggs. If head lice are detected proceed to Step 4. If head lice are not detected, rinse hair and dry as normal. Repeat the Bug-Busting method in 7 days.
4. With conditioner in place, comb through hair methodically with head lice comb, held at approximately 45 degree angle to head. Ensure the teeth of the comb touch the scalp. Wipe comb after every stroke.
5. Rinse hair and dry as normal.
6. Repeat procedure every fourth day for 2 weeks, to ensure eradication of adult and newly hatched lice. When eradication is complete, return to weekly Bug-Busting method!

Each week from 8.30 to 9.30am in the Primary Maker Space, English conversation classes are held for parents who would like to improve their English.
Run by Jemma, a parent at the school (a daughter in Year 9 and a son in Year 8) with a TESOL qualification, it is a free class in a friendly, fun and relaxed setting. The class covers basic grammar, new vocabulary and encourages confidence and fluency in spoken English with a new topic introduced at each session.
The classes are divided into:
Advanced Class on a Tuesday morning starting on 13th August (lessons are fortnightly)
Beginner Class on a Thursday morning starting on 15th August (lessons are weekly). Support is given by a bi-lingual parent.
Why not come and join us? It’s an ideal way to meet new parents.
Any queries, contact Jemma on jemma.chapple@gmail.com or 910 63556.
Thank you so much for persevering through the uniform issues we have been having. We are so glad that the blue shirts are starting to percolate through the school in ever increasing numbers as the shipments get through. Your patience and understanding have been much appreciated and this is not the way we would have liked to start the school year! We are working hard with the uniform suppliers to resolve issues and ensure that we have everything available for you to purchase as required.
When will I receive uniforms ordered last week?
Uniforms ordered last week will be delivered at the end of this week.
When will the PE uniforms arrive?
All PE uniforms will be delivered by mid-September.
How do I order more uniform items?
The website will be live by 26 August. You will then see a link on the Parent Zone on the school website. In the meantime, please try on for sizing in the NPG room and hand in order forms at reception. Your order will be delivered to school for you to collect. A few sizes are out of stock due to the demand exceeding production (see below). New stock for all sizes will be ready in September.
Out of Stock Items
Primary Polo 3 to 6 – Y12, Y14
Secondary Polo 7 to 11 – S, M, L
Due to high demand we are out of stock of the above items, but we are currently getting new stock made and will deliver mid-September. You may place your order but will not be charged until it is delivered.
Who do I contact about my order?
Please do contact Anthony (anthony@sagana.com.sg) if you have any queries. He is very responsive and will do what he can to help. I am working with Anthony to ensure that we improve communication with families so that you know when to expect deliveries.
