Learners across the whole school will celebrate Diversity & Inclusion Week from the 23rd-27th May.
The theme of the week is 'Me-You-Us', encouraging learners to celebrate their own unique cultures, languages, beliefs, interests and skills, as well as recognise and show empathy for the characteristics of peers, and appreciate the value of us bringing this all together as a special and harmonious community. Similarly to all of our themed weeks, Diversity & Inclusion Week aims to nurture understanding and a desire to act upon one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals; we will focus on goal 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
Learners in Primary will engage with a different theme, relating to diversity and inclusion, each day of the week:
Monday: Culture
Tuesday: Skills, Strengths & Superpowers!
Wednesday: Language
Thursday: Interests
Friday: Beliefs
One lesson of the day will be devoted to exploring these themes through the lens of what the theme means to individuals, to others, and what significance they have to us as a community. Additionally, we have created a special library of 40 storybooks that touch on these themes that and will be shared with learners; furthermore, some Secondary learners will be showing 'action and agency' by coming along to Primary classes to co-lead some discussions.
Since the huge earthquake in 2015, the Nexus community has held an annual 'Climathon'. The aim is to raise awareness and funds for the education and opportunities of women and girls in rural areas of Nepal. This is done through supporting the grass roots charity Pipal Tree. The charity is also building environmentally, sustainable community projects through reforestation and wildlife initiatives.
So....... limber up for the Nexus Climbathon 2022 on 2nd June. ALL learners will be involved.
The event will be organised and run by a group of Year 12 CAS learners. So watch out for the sponsorship forms and further information coming your way.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROGRAMME OF INQUIRY
The Programme of Inquiry is the road map of how the units are organised across the entire Primary Years Programme from Nursery to Year 6.
It therefore provides an overview for each Unit of Inquiry for each year group, and how they fall under each Transdisciplinary Theme. This workshop will define each theme and how it is developed through the Units of Inquiry.
This workshop will also feature the Programme of Inquiry for the academic year 2022/23.
