On a bright and sunny day, Team Nexus made waves at the Youth Aquathlon Series 2, held on home turf at Nexus. Spirits were high as 72 Nexus athletes – the largest turnout of any school, making up nearly half of the 146 participants – took to the course with determination, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.
The event showcased outstanding performances from our swimmers and runners across various age categories. From the opening splash in the pool to the final sprint across the finish line, Team Nexus demonstrated grit, perseverance, and teamwork. It was fantastic to see so many learners pushing their limits, supporting one another, and representing Nexus with pride.
A huge congratulations to our standout performers:
Nea Martin dominated the Female Juniors 16-18 category, taking 1st place, with Iona Bevan finishing strong just 26 seconds later in 2nd place.
Diana Fekete secured 1st place in the Kids 10-12 Female category with a fantastic performance.
Our 8-9-year-old girls swept the podium in the Kids category, with Ruofan Wang, Makayla Lyn Smith, and Mia Xie finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively.
In the 8-9-year-old boys category, Eric Rixon claimed 2nd place, with Finlay Edwards securing 3rd.
A special thank you goes out to our incredible parent volunteers, who played a vital role in making the event even more enjoyable. Their hard work in organising the tuck shop kept both participants and spectators refreshed and hydrated throughout the day.
Congratulations to all our athletes for their dedication and effort! Whether it was their first aquathlon or they were seasoned competitors, every Nexus participant gave it their all. We look forward to even more success in the next race of the series at UWC East on 2nd March.
Go, Team Nexus!
Why Learn an Instrument at Nexus?
For further information on instrumental lessons at Nexus, head to our microsite.
Learning an instrument from a young age offers countless benefits that extend far beyond the world of music. Research shows that early musical education enhances cognitive abilities, improves memory, and fosters creativity. It strengthens coordination, discipline, and time-management skills, all while boosting self-esteem and confidence. At Nexus School, we believe that music encourages collaboration and perseverance, important traits that help students thrive academically and socially. Through our exceptional instrumental program, students have the unique opportunity to learn from outstanding international tutors, allowing them to build a strong musical foundation and enriching their personal growth and future success in all areas of life.
At Nexus School, when you start instrument lessons, it's just the beginning of an exciting musical journey. Our instrumental program opens the door to a wide range of opportunities, including participation in orchestras, choirs, jazz bands, rock bands, and string groups. Being part of these dynamic ensembles gives students the chance to showcase their talents in concerts, gigs, and shows, providing invaluable performance experience and fostering a sense of community. With the guidance of our outstanding international tutors, students are not only developing their musical skills but also discovering the joy of collaborating with others in a variety of musical settings.
