Learners were invited to be part of the Hamilfans Day hosted by Base Entertainment at the Sands Theatre, MBS on Tuesday this week. Our learners got up close and personal with the cast of Hamilton participating in games, question and answer sessions and getting their autographs. The 3 learners Eva Y9, Sophie Y9 and Yasmine Y12 were chosen to represent the school due to their dedication as a lead role in the secondary production of 'The Addams Family' whilst maintaining a solid commitment to their music activities and performances. Such commitment meant a very busy Term 3 for these young ladies, however they continued to turn up to all music and drama rehearsals with a smile and lots of energy!
Thank you for being fantastic ambassadors for our school.
Our secondary music department hosted a night of musical nexcellence featuring the secondary music ensembles and advanced Young Musician of the Year winner.
The night celebrated an evening of excellence where every young musician has gone above and beyond their musical abilities this year. Through consistent dedication to rehearsals and continuing to strive for success.
Music included traditional Italian song 'Nella Fantasti' sang beautifully by the Secondary Choir, an acapella rendition of Taylor Swifts' 'Wildest Dreams'. The orchestra performed the Finale from Stravinskys Rite of Spring and the Chamber Strings performed the Capriol Suite. A lovely finale combining choir and band with an energetic performance of 'Touch the Sky' from Disney's Brave.
Thank you to all our secondary musicians and to all the staff that supported the event.
Year 6 learners had the exciting opportunity to engage with Dr. Ellen Corrick, a renowned Paleoclimatologist from Monash University in Melbourne, via Google Meet. This session was designed to help them develop interview techniques in preparation for their own personal inquiries for the PYP exhibition. Dr. Corrick shared insights on how geochemical signals preserved in cave stalagmites can reveal changes in Earth's climate history. The learners explored the methods scientists use to conduct studies in caves and discussed how understanding past climates can inform future predictions. This enriching session not only deepened their knowledge of Earth sciences but also equipped them with valuable skills for their upcoming PYP exhibition.
As our Year 13 IBDP begins their exams, we send them off with heartfelt goodbyes and wishes for success. Their dedication and resilience have prepared them well for this moment. Let's keep them in our thoughts and offer our continued support. Good luck, Year 13s!
