In addition to summative assessment achievement grades, students are assessed on five skill categories from the IB Approaches to Learning (ATLs): Communication, Social, Self-Management, Research and Thinking.
ATL Progress is separate from academic achievement grades. The MYP emphasises growth and development. It focuses on recognising the Approaches to Learning the learner demonstrates in their learning, regardless of the outcome.
ATL progress updates for formative assignments will be shared through the Canvas platform. This means learners can access information regarding their ATL development directly within the course environment, allowing easy access and timely feedback.

Year 13 Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibitions
Year 13 presented their TOK Exhibitions to the Year 12s and other members of the Nexus Community. The exhibition involves learners choosing 3 'objects' to explore a knowledge issue such as the role of experts in influencing our acquisition of knowledge. The aim of the exhibition is for learners to demonstrate how TOK concepts manifest in the real world. Year 13 did a great job and spoke confidently on a range of issues.
Careers and University Notices
The Unifrog platform is designed to support learners in making the most informed decisions about their futures and has a range of tools that are suitable for all year groups.
Key features of the platform include:
Exploring Pathways – personality quizzes, career and subject profiles, MOOCs, and webinars
Recording – self-reflection about extracurricular activities and key employability skills
Opportunities – search tools showing live vacancies, courses, and placements for universities around the world, virtual work experience and much more
Applications – tools to help students build applications for a range of pathways (e.g., resumés, Common App Essays, personal statements)
We would encourage you to use the platform with your child so you can support them through the process of deciding their next step.
