Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome to our new academic year. It has been wonderful to welcome existing and new learners. Thank you to all of you who attended Welcome Evening, the building was really buzzing with as the community came together.
We have had a great start in Primary with homeroom groups creating their essential agreements, taking tours of the school, building learning focussed relationships, getting started on their first Units of Inquiry and sharing with you on Seesaw.
Thanks you for your patience as we work through the last elements of the rollover to iSAMS.
We look forward to an exciting and positive year ahead.
Best wishes
Fiona Lewis
Head of Primary
The start of the school year in Nursery has been full of excitement. It’s been wonderful to welcome back our returning families and warmly greet our new Nursery families. Relationships are beginning to develop, with the children getting to know one another and making connections. We have been busy learning classroom routines and exploring the indoor and outdoor environments. The children have also met their single-subject teachers and explored different areas of the school. During circle time, they have shown a strong interest in various storybooks and enjoyed singing songs together. We have been working together to co-construct our class essential agreements, focusing on sharing, taking turns, using our listening ears and taking care of our resources.
Thank you for the fantastic turnout at our welcome evening. We look forward to the year ahead and supporting the children's learning journey in Nursery.
The Kindergarten school year has started with joy and smiles all around. It’s been wonderful to reconnect with returning families and we warmly welcome new ones. The children have enjoyed making new friends and building connections with their teachers. We’ve spent time learning and becoming familiar with our daily routines while having fun exploring both indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The children have now experienced each of their single subject specialist lessons and visited the auditorium to attend their first assembly. Together, we’ve co-constructed our essential agreements for the classroom, playground, and dining room.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our welcome evening—it was lovely to meet you all. We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to supporting the children on their Kindergarten journey.
We are thrilled to welcome both our new and returning families to the 2024-2025 academic year. Our learners have already embraced their new learning environment in the Year 1 hub with great enthusiasm. They have spent time getting familiar with class routines, the Nexus RECIPE and collaboratively creating class Essential Agreements, which will guide our community throughout the year.
We are incredibly proud of how well our learners have settled into their new surroundings, showing resilience and curiosity. As we embark on this exciting journey together, we look forward to seeing them become risk-takers, embrace new challenges, and grow throughout the year ahead. Here’s to a fantastic year of learning and growth!
A warm welcome to the 2024/25 academic year, and a special greeting to all our new and returning families. From the very first day, Year 2 learners entered the newly renovated hub, their eyes filled with wonder as they explored the shared learning spaces and engaged in collaborative activities. The energy was evident, with a hint of nervousness, as old friendships were rekindled and new ones started to blossom. This has provided an ideal opportunity to connect through our Who we are unit of inquiry, which delves into emotional, social, and physical well-being.
The first two weeks have been a mix of introductions, icebreakers, and engaging activities aimed at fostering friendships and creating a supportive environment. We dedicated time to familiarising ourselves with the Nexus RECIPE, linking it to our rights and responsibilities as learners, and crafting our Essential Agreements. As the Year 2 learners become more familiar with the routines, we look forward to being curious risk-takers in a fun-filled year ahead, full of exciting challenges.
Thank you to the families who attended the Welcome Evening last night. It was wonderful to meet parents and caregivers and to see connections being made among the new homeroom families.
What a great start to the school year we have had in Year 3! The learners have been busy exploring their exciting new learning environment on Level 7 and settling into the new routines and expectations. Over the past week, Year 3 has been creating their own ‘Essential Agreements’ based on the Nexus RECIPE (Respect, Excellence, Communication, Integrity, Passion, Enjoyable Environment). These agreements will guide how we behave towards each other, our learning, and our spaces throughout the year. It has been an excellent starting point as we begin to delve into our first Unit of Inquiry, ‘People’s Actions Affect Others’.
The jump from Year 2 to Year 3 comes with many changes, and the learners should be very proud of how they have settled into their new environment, taking on the responsibility and independence that Year 3 requires.
One way we have been supporting this transition is by giving the learners opportunities to come together as a year group and spend time with friends in different classes. We hold a weekly Year 3 Assembly, and sometimes we have chances to ‘mix and mingle’. We certainly have a great bunch in Year 3, and it’s only going to get better!
Year 4 learners have made a wonderful start to our 2024/2025 academic year. Our pod has been filled with excited and energetic learners, ready for their new year of learning and fun. Last week we felt as though we'd already been at school for much longer than a week, as everyone has begun to make connections with each other.
We have enjoyed a variety of energiser, icebreaker and team activities. These have helped learners to reconnect with their friends and make new ones too. Each year we revisit our RECIPE values and reinforce their purpose at our school. Respect, Excellence, Communication, Integrity, Passion and Enjoyable Environments are encouraged from Nursery through to Year 13. In Year 4 learners collaborated to create shared statements that everyone agreed on. Kindness, support, a 'can do' attitude, honesty, fairness and being caring were some of the qualities that they valued highly. It was amazing to see our learners collaborating so well, in Week 1!
Our first unit of inquiry is focused on Who We Are and the central idea of 'informed choices support well being'. It helps learners to settle into their new environment, acknowledge their feelings at this time of the year and consider how they can contribute to their own and others well being.
It was lovely to meet so many of our families at the Welcome Evening last night. We look forward to further strengthening our home/school partnership on our Year 4 journey together.
We've had an amazing first two weeks in Year 5! The kids jumped right into the school year, reconnecting with friends and making new ones. They've been busy exploring our core values—respect, excellence, communication, integrity, passion, and creating a fun learning environment.
The introduction of iPads was a hit, sparking great discussions about using tech wisely. We also saw some fantastic teamwork as the kids collaborated to build group towers and collaborating both as a whole year level, and with our buddy classes, showcasing their creativity and cooperation.
As a team, we've started strong, settling into routines and embracing the new responsibilities that come with Year 5. The learners are already showing great maturity, and we're excited to see how they continue to grow.
It has been an excellent start to the new school year. Year 6 learners have been busy making new friends in their classes and across the year group. They have spent time reflecting on how they are now role models for the primary school, and developing essential agreements for the year ahead. As part of our year long how we organise ourselves unit of inquiry, with the central idea of 'identifying issues & opportunities which allows us to collaborate for positive changes within communities' learners have been thinking about how to be effective collaborators in our learning community.
The Year 6 Foundation English Support class have demonstrated resilience and taken risks in building their language skills. A highlight of the week was a team scavenger hunt around the school using new vocabulary.
