Help them find a name for their worry
Recognise it is a part of their brain that is separate from their identity
Note that it has good intentions (to keep them safe)
Point out that they are in charge of what they can do about it
A fun script for your child to use:
"Thank you, Worried Wendy, for trying to keep me safe, but I AM the one who decides that."
