As we start the new semester and and welcome many new families we would like to take the opportunity to remind all families of our key communication channels. Please make sure that you connect with these various channels so that you can best support your child in their learning journey:
Facebook Page (click here): A space where we celebrate all that is happening in the Nexus community.
Parent Zone (click here): A one-stop source to find all the key information you need about life at Nexus. For example, you can view the school calendar and find out more about our CCA, Music and Sport programmes.
Seesaw App: For Primary Learners we offer a ‘window into the classroom’ through the Seesaw App. This is the regular ongoing communication method we will use to share news and home learning from your child's class. If you need some help to set up the app, please email our IT team.
Canvas: For Secondary we offer Canvas as our Learning Management System platform. Through Canvas we facilitate access and administration of course materials, enabling educators, learners and parents to communicate about skill development and academic accomplishments.
WhatsApp Groups: Every class in our Primary School and Year Group in our Secondary School has a WhatsApp Group. We are a school that prides itself on our strong community relationships and these WhatsApp Groups will allow you to build friendships between families.
What these WhatsApp Groups are:
A place for families to come together to arrange social activities (e.g. parties, play dates, coffee mornings and evening drinks)
A place for occasional reminders (e.g. remembering Dress Up Days!)
What these WhatsApp Groups aren't:
A school communication channel (we will continue to share all school information via the fortnightly Newsletters, school emails and our Facebook page - please do make sure you read these to find out all that is going on in school)
A place for discussing individual learners
A place to raise issues (we welcome all feedback and encourage you to contact us directly with any concerns you have so that we can help to resolve them).
If you would like to join this informal class group, please contact Learner Services (learnerservices@nexus.edu.sg) and they will be able to support you.
Newsletters: We also have these fortnightly Newsletters. They are a crucial part of our communication with our whole community. It is where we include information about any upcoming events, our recent happenings and also any important notices. The different sections can be accessed from the menu across the top of the screen (on large screens such as laptops and iPads) or the 'triple bar' icon on the top left (on small screens, e.g. phones).
If you have any concerns about your child please don't hesitate to reach out to their Homeroom Teacher (Primary) or Tutor (Secondary), they are always your first point of contact and will be able to assist you if further support is required.
After consideration and a thorough review of our cafeteria credit system, Chartwells has decided to embark on a new and fresh approach. Effective from Monday 22 January 2024 (next week) if learners forget their cards or have insufficient credit we are introducing a new provision – fresh bread and a variety of spreads for all our learners during designated break times. This adjustment aims to streamline the process and ensure that learners have access to a basic, nourishing snack during breaks. Learners who are unable to purchase a snack or lunch will be able to grab a sandwich of bread and spreads.
Nexus remains committed to our philosophy that NO learner goes hungry.
We do ask that families help keep learners' EZ link cards topped up with money and that students are organised with their cards each day.
Here is a link to easylink top-up instructions:

More good news - learners using their bank cards to pay for lunches are no longer subject to a 50c surcharge.
Join this exciting new group for under 3s, held onsite in a great space where we welcome parents, guardians or helpers. This will be led by our Early Years Teacher, Karen Orlowski.
Canvas and Seesaw got you confused? This workshop is for you! Mr. Ed will run you though the Nexus learning systems and how they can help you get a window into the classroom. There will be a question and answer session at the end so you can get all the help you need.
