All About Ms. Pizzi
Hello there! I am super excited to be your teacher this year and welcome you to your new classroom. In the next few weeks, we will spend a lot of time getting to know each other through some fun games and activities. This letter is to give you some background information about me. Enjoy!
I was born in Newton, Ma. at Newton Wellesley Hospital and grew up in Waltham Ma. My own mother is from Cuba and attended Newton Public Schools from elementary through high school. I remember being a 5th grader and spending time at my grandma’s Cuban restaurant enjoying all the wonderful dishes my grandma would make for her customers. I have lived in New York City (Manhattan and the Bronx), as well as spending 13 years in Katy, Texas. Howdy y’all! I am really glad to be back in New England (Norwood, Ma.) rooting for our local sport teams and watching the seasons change.
I am a lover of the arts and music. One interesting fact about me is that I was once a professional opera singer who traveled extensively around the world! I have degrees in music from The Boston Conservatory, Boston University and I even attended the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City as a masters degree student. I have traveled across the United States and abroad to sing in St. Petersburg Russia, Germany and London. I have also traveled to Hawaii and the Cayman Islands. Another interesting fact about me is that I was a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years and learned to camp, cook outdoors and canoe. I also enjoy sewing, baking, all things cooking and gardening.
My belief is that we are all lifelong learners! I went back to college to earn a Masters Degree in Education from Fitchburg State University and love being a teacher. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade and 5th grade and am thrilled to join the 5th grade family at Memorial Spaulding. In my free time I love reading, going to movies (popcorn is my favorite snack), baking, cooking and listening to music.
Most importantly, I am a mom to four wonderful children. I have 3 daughters and 1 son you will hear all about. Their names and ages are: Maddie 18, Skylar 15, Braeden 12 and Amelia 9. My eldest daughter is off to New York University to study studio art/business/media design. You will notice the purple around the classroom which are NYU colors! My kiddos keep me busy and have taught me as much as I have taught them! Being a mother has greatly influenced me as a teacher. I also have one fat old cat named Simba and we recently started a fish tank.
I sincerely look forward to meeting you, your family and excitedly anticipate learning all about you!
Joy to you!
Love - Ms. Pizzi
