Ride a tricycle

Alternate feet walking up the stairs

Alternate feet walking down the stairs

Stand on one leg for 5-10 seconds

Transition from floor to standing through 1/2 kneeling

Use playground: up ladders/down slides, walk over a shaky bridge, on/off teeter

totter and jungle gym, up and down a wooden/metal rung (monkey bars excluded).

Jump:

Take off and land on two feet

Jump forward 30-36”

Jump down 18-24”

Jump over 2-8" hurdle

Balance beam (beam on the floor): Walk forward independently with 0-1 falls

Ball skills:

Catch a gym ball that is throw right to him/her from 5’ away

Throw a gym ball 5'

Throw a tennis ball 5-10’ overhand to target

Kick a ball 6’ with good accuracy, kick a moving ball

Gallop

Hop 2-5 times on one leg

Stand and balance on tiptoes for 5-8 seconds

Somersault (4 1/2 -5 years)

Pump on a swing (4-5 years)

  • Skipping occurs generally after a child can hop and is just about 5 years old
