About the program: Investigations 3 is the new math program for the Newton public schools. It is a K-5 inquiry-based approach to teaching mathematics that provides new digital tools, ongoing professional development for teachers, and expanded family support.
The program focuses on developing students’ ability to reason and make sense of mathematics, leading to strong conceptual understanding of foundational mathematical ideas and fluency with mathematical operations. It includes hands- on and online games and activities designed to support the development of skills and strategies at each grade level.
Investigations3 is tightly aligned to the standards defined in the Common Core State Standards and is being rolled out in grades 3 and 4 this year.
