Even If It Cracks the Sky
Poem - by Akis Linardos
Even if the sea waves freeze to Vitruvian scrolls,
I will coat my soles with oil and glide on ice,
to snatch a kiss from you across the ocean
Even if dragonfire seizes forests, sears the world,
I will glaze myself in water, laden with bags of ice,
to dance with you among the flames
And should death claim me first, I’ll reach out from the void,
Bend the rivers of chance that rule creation,
to possess a hummingbird and tap upon your window glass,
until your palms caress my feathers
And if all corporeal forms reject my ghost, I’ll possess the clouds,
wait for rain to touch your skin,
my soul to touch your soul,
Even if my hubris cracks the sky
