"Princesses of the Light Realm 4" by Alexander Limarev
Artwork as viewed by Alexander Limarev is the way to speculate upon and explain to oneself such universal existential problems as a person’s life, double standards and their influence on individuals, public loneliness, social impotence, search of God, resistance to Evil. He thinks of his artwork as inner monologues developing over a particular thought or event and thus resembling nonsense, stream of consciousness in visual art, based on paradox, absurd, broken causative-consecutive and chronological connections, reflecting discrepancy, injustice of the outer reality. However, decorative artworks are a happy exception.

I am really excited to share with you this Spring’s issue. Spring is when I choose the stories myself. Highlights include the best mind-bending mystery I’ve read since Philip K. Dick, “Karl and Kim” by R. A. Johnson; Bigfoot, mercenaries, kidnappings and double-cross all in one (imagine ordering that from the secret In-N-Out menu!), “Castle Blanca” by our good friend Bob Sojka; David Stier returns us to a second Afghanistan mercenary romp; and I included the application story that got me accepted into the six-week residency Odyssey, the Fantasy Writing Workshop.

I wrote “Fire Bugs” in the aftermath of the Cedar Fire had swept through my hometown of Julian and destroyed 1/3 of the homes. When I realized I had never published the story, I had to include it here. The recent Palisades Fire had nearly identical cause, condition, circumstances, willfully incompetent leadership, and predictable result as the 2003 blaze, and such fires will appear as regularly as a Meghan Markle post demanding to be left alone until the State starts managing the fuel load (flammable stuff) in its open spaces.
