Welcome to music class! I look forward to working with you this year!
This year, we will be learning GUITAR! We will study the fundamentals of music through guitar performance. Students will learn the language of music (reading tablature, standard notation – both pitched and rhythmic, and chord diagrams) by examining the work of popular artists from the world of folk, rock (classic and modern), blues, and – possibly – jazz. Students will be able to perform alone, in small groups, and as a part of an ensemble.

In this course, guitars will be provided in class. Each student will be assigned a guitar. That instrument will be shared across classes. Guitars will not go home. Practice and assessment will happen in class.
About Me
About Me
This is my 5th year teaching music at NEST+m and my 18th year teaching music in NYC.
When I'm not teaching music, I spend a lot of time practicing and performing on saxophone, my main instrument. I play with various bands around New York City in a variety of genres, including Jazz, Rock, and New Orleans Brass Band Music. I also love to hang out with my wife, ride my bike all over NYC, read books, and catch up with my son, who is away at college. Oh yeah, and, I love to tell dad jokes!
