The National Child Traumatic Stress Network defines trauma-informed care (TIC) as medical care in which all parties involved assess, recognize, and respond to the effects of traumatic stress on children, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Trauma-informed parenting alters parenting methods to respond to the child's needs. It includes understanding the impact of any form of trauma on the child. Trauma-informed parenting additionally shows how to recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma.
