Welcome Mr. Miguel Vilas, Associate Director of the Bradley Band!

Hey everyone, this is Mr. Smith.

I told the kids last week that I won't be returning full time to the Bradley Band next school year as I pursue a career as a financial coach for student-athletes. I've been doing this for a few years at UTSA and I'm transitioning to doing this full time at UTSA and other schools. I'll still be around through our Midwest trip in December to make sure the kids have all the support they need.

Mr. Miguel Vilas, current Director of Bradley Orchestra, Jazz Combo, Studio Jazz Band, and Beginner Jazz Band, will be taking my spot as the Associate Director of Bands. Mr. Vilas is the best. He is a huge reason our jazz bands have been so successful this year. Read more about Mr. Vilas.

We told the kids today during 2nd period jazz band and they clapped for three minutes straight. So, I think it's safe to say the kids are happy with their new director. 

Bradley Band is such a special place. We try to convey the significance of what happens around here to the kids, but I don't think they'll really understand until they're older and look back on everything they did here. Mr. Vilas and Mr. Elizondo are excited to continue providing world class education for our beginner, concert bands, and jazz bands.

Beginner Jazz Schlitterbahn Trip This Weekend

This Friday, May 10th, all Beginner Jazz Students will be performing their end of year competition followed by Incredible Pizza Party, and Schlitterbahn the next day. This event is for beginner jazz students that have consistently attended rehearsals. A paper information sheet has been sent home from Mr. Vilas. The packet attached has a schedule and more information.

$75 was already due. If you have not sent in money, that is due as soon as possible. Check payable to Bradley Middle School.

Solo Rehearsals Continue 

Our Annual Solo & Ensemble Contest is May 22-24th during band classes (We moved it from a weekend, you're welcome!). 

Every Bradley Band student learns and performs a solo at the end of every school year. These solos were passes out months ago and kids have had many opportunities for feedback during class. Accompanists will be on campus continuing through this week to rehearse with students. Every kid will get two short rehearsals with our professional piano players (accompanists). 

Entry Fee + Accompanist Fee for Solo & Ensemble will be $30 total.  If you are doing a solo/duet/etc. without an accompanist it  is $10 per performance.

Please do not send in money yet.

Uniforms and Home Instrument Return

Please return all uniforms and home instruments returned by May, 24th.
