Instructor Opportunties

MyDistrict Virtual School seeks instructors who are committed to providing high-quality, individualized educational opportunities for the students in participating Florida districts. The virtual setting provides students the ability to learn when and where they want. As their teacher, you will be asked to:

  • Support self-paced learning while providing one-on-one and small group instructional opportunities on course topics

  • Return communication from students and families within 24 hours Monday-Friday

  • Document communications with students and families in provided platforms

  • Provide actionable feedback on submitted assignments within 48 hours of student submission Monday-Friday

With MyDistrict Virtual School at NEFEC, all teaching positions are part-time and do not include benefits; however, making the transition to virtual education expands an educator's skill set and connects one with students from all over Florida. An instructor with MDVS must be highly qualified in the subject area they teach online. Additionally, an online instructor position requires additional unpaid training in online facilitation and program-specific technology. All of the training will be delivered remotely and will not require travel. Finally, instructors are encouraged to attend regular professional development in online teaching strategies.

As a virtual instructor in the MyDistrict program, the instructor is the teacher of record. Each class is delivered completely online. Synchronous instruction should be offered for students who need a little "extra" help as well as for those topics that may be a bit more difficult to understand. Expect to spend 15-20 hours per week managing a classroom, contacting students and caregivers, grading student work while providing meaningful feedback.

MyDistrict Virtual School monitors course loads carefully in order to ensure that online instructors are not given more students than can effectively be served.

Instructor fees are determined by platform and workload required and will be discussed during the virtual interview.

Teaching assignments are determined by student enrollment at the discretion of MyDistrict Virtual School administration. Students are assigned during the 180-days of the school year but may extend into summer.
