Eligibility Requirements
If you have not spoken with your district's virtual instruction contact, please contact them before moving forward. MDVS is a service used by your district and will not register any student for coursework without approval from the district in which you reside.
Florida Statute 1002.45 requires that each Florida school district offer a Virtual Instruction Program (VIP) for its students.
Florida Statue 1002.455 outlines student eligibility for K-12 virtual instruction:
All students, including home education and private school students, are eligible to participate in any of the following virtual instruction options:
School district operated part-time or full-time kindergarten through grade 12 virtual instruction programs under s. 1002.45(1)(b).
Full-time virtual charter school instruction authorized under s. 1002.33 to students within the school district or to students in other school districts throughout the state pursuant to s. 1002.31.
Virtual courses offered in the course code directory to students within the school district or to students in other school districts throughout the state pursuant to s. 1003.498.
Florida Virtual School instructional services authorized under s. 1002.37.
The virtual instruction options for which this eligibility section applies include:
School district operated part-time or full-time kindergarten through grade 12 virtual instruction programs under s. 1002.45(1)(b) for students enrolled in the school district.
Full-time virtual charter school instruction authorized under s. 1002.33.
Virtual courses offered in the course code directory to students within the school district or to students in other school districts throughout the state pursuant to s. 1003.498.
The county virtual schools may only operate during the 180 days of the school year pursuant to s. 1011.61.
