Begin your course by logging in to the program. Look for new messages and/or announcements from your instructor. Complete the Student Orientation which is the first assignment in every course. You only need to complete this assignment once.
Welcome Call - Once placed with an instructor, you and a caregiver (lab assistant) must participate in a welcome call with each of your instructors. A welcome call is a conversation with your instructor regarding policies and regulations that you must follow. There are general policies and classroom-specific policies that will be shared during this conversation. You should complete a welcome call within 14 days of being placed with an instructor.
Student Pace - Students should be working in EVERY course EVERY week. Anywhere between 2-5 assignments should be completed each week depending on the course and the time period you have to complete the course. Instructors will monitor your progress. If you have not submitted work in 7 days, expect contact from your instructor. If you are not completing the written assignments along with the quizzes, you may be blocked from moving forward in the course until you go back and complete the written work. Please know that if you do not stay in communication with your instructor and submit work, you will be withdrawn from the course without notice.
MDVS students may only work on virtual courses during the 180 days of your district's school year. Keep in mind, if you begin a segment in February or later, you must complete it by the end of the school year. If that isn't reasonable, please register for the course the following August.
