The Hudson River got named after Henry Hudson after he discovered the river while on exploration.
It is deep, wide, and tidal. The tides in particular made it easier for sailboats to navigate the river.
Fishing and transportation were the major uses of the river. The Hudson River is a special kind of river called an estuary.
There is some salt in the water from New York City north until Poughkeepsie.
It is then fresh water from Poughkeepsie north until Lake Tear of the Clouds.
The border for the salt in the water moves when the tide rises and falls.

I am curious about this place in Newburgh because my cousin goes there.
In 1926, the construction workers started building the current building on a 7-acre lot.
That is a lot of land (sorry for making up terrible puns) and the very first classes were held there on January 23, 1928.
The construction was finally done, but there were a lot of years to go!
It was fall of 1931 when an addition to the high school was finally done! People could take classes there now.
Newburgh Free Academy is a high school offering several opportunities.
In addition to a New York State Regents Diploma, students have the opportunity to take New York State licensing exams.
NFA Main and North campuses offer Advanced Placement and honors-level courses.
NFA is special to me because my cousin goes there, and I am going to go there when I grow up.

can put their shops in this mall. People don't have to drive from place to place and can shop in one big mall.
