This exam evaluates your sight-singing and silent hearing skills. It consists of a one-on-one Zoom or in-person audition (approximately 15 minutes) with a faculty member or teaching assistant. You will be given several excerpts from repertoire and asked to sight-read them. You will need your instrument or keyboard to play a reference pitch for each excerpt.
If you are taking the exam on Zoom, please make sure your audio settings have “Original sound for Musicians” enabled. It is strongly suggested that you use an ethernet cable, rather than rely on wifi, for the most stable connection. Remember that you will not be allowed to use headphones, and any pitch that you play as a reference pitch must be audible to your proctor. If you prefer, the proctor can give you a reference pitch upon your request.
