Coaches will be selecting team leaders throughout the season. Athletes will have to DEMONSTRATE leadership all season. Examples: CONTINUOUS positive behavior, taking charge, leading cooldowns and warm-ups, maintaining a POSITIVE team culture, and the ABILITY to ask a teammate to improve their behavior if it's not productive for the team. These qualities will determine who gets the team leader position. Grade level will not be a factor in deciding who will be selected. 

If an athlete is interested in becoming a Team Leader, they must take the NFHS Captains Course. Team leaders must complete the two leadership courses, each lasting an hour. They will also be required to take the Sportsmanship Course. The course also takes an hour to complete. We firmly believe in developing well-rounded athletes by furthering their education. These courses will benefit all athletes regardless of team lead status. 

Athletes must submit proof of course completion to a coach before being eligible for the team leader role.
