Expectations

Our Athletes

Necedah MS athletes should be diligent in preparation, give their best at practices and in meets, demonstrate personal discipline, be respectful in all situations, maintain self-control, show humility, and pursue excellence.  The ultimate and final responsibility rests upon the shoulders of the student athlete to exemplify the Cardinal Spirit.

Our Parents/Guardians

Parents of student athletes have a responsibility to both their child and to the team. Strong, positive parental support will help the student athlete achieve his/her greatest potential and greatly benefit the team. Parents are not coaches and learning to trust coaches is a key step to learning the value of the life lesson experiences athletics provide. We also encourage our Cardinal families to support the team by contributing snacks/hydration items for after practices and/or at meets if possible. *No peanuts or tree nuts are allowed at practices or in the camp area at meets.*

Attendance

Athletes are expected to be on time to practice.  Practice begins at 3:30 p.m. sharp and finishes by 5:15 p.m. If you are going to be late, or not able to attend practice, you must let a coach know in advance.

Communication

All announcements and information will be via the Remind App. Please scan the QR Code in the MS Remind Tab to sign up. You may also email your Head Coach at mchrist@necedahschools.org.

Transportation

MS Athletes must ride school provided transportation to and from meets unless the coaches are given a note from the parent/guardian to make other arrangements. All students must stay for the entire meet.

We will stop for food at a fast food location or gas station after most of our MS Track meets. Please be sure your child has money for food, or pack them a sack lunch for after they compete. Please remember, no peanuts or tree nuts are allowed on our school buses.

Attire

Please be dressed in the appropriate running attire.  Athletes must keep their shirts on.  An athlete may not be able to practice or compete if they are not wearing the proper attire.

Examples of appropriate running attire for MS practices are: T-shirts, Tank tops, Sweatshirts, Sweatpants, Shorts, Leggings, appropriate length Spandex shorts, Running shoes (no flip flops, regular shoes, or crocs etc.), and socks.

Academics

***Weekly MS grade checks are non-negotiable. You MUST turn in your completed grade checks EACH week to Coach Michelle to be eligible for your meets. You are a student first and athlete second.

Please reach out for help before you have a grade problem. If grades become a problem, athletes must contact coaches to develop a plan to improve grades.

Appropriate Sportsmanship

As a member of the MS Track team, you represent our team during and after practice. How you conduct yourself within the community directly reflects on our team. Athletes must follow the student code of conduct.

-No vandalism, littering, or trespassing on someone’s property.

-Harassment, bullying, or constant negative talk about a person, team, coach, or staff member will not be tolerated.  Treat each other with kindness. No swearing or hitting teammates is allowed. Repeated negative behavior of this kind may result in sitting a practice, a meet, or expulsion from the team at the coach’s and athletic director’s discretion.

*Uniforms must be washed and returned at the end of the season.  It's preferred they are put in a bag and include a paper with the athletes name on it.  If uniforms are lost the athlete will have to pay to replace it.*

Our most important goal is to make a positive impact as an athlete, and to HAVE FUN!
