Mrs. Harris' Counseling Corner

Welcome to a new school year! I'm Mrs. Harris and I'm so excited to be at Sage Creek Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year! I'm a mother of three boys, an avid bookworm, and a pickleball fanatic. I love working with kids and creating a warm, encouraging learning environment for them. Please stop by my office and say hello!

As a school counselor, I provide the following:

All students are taught the Zones of Regulation. This is a method used to teach students how to self-regulate their emotions by categorizing them into four colored zones. With each color zone, the students learn strategies to help cope with the emotions they are feeling. The zones help students when using self-regulation skills (e.g., deep breathing) and tools (e.g., the Zen Den).

Students are encouraged to use Sources of Strength from their Strength Wheelhouse to help them work through problems or big emotions. Most of my classroom lessons are based on the Sources of Strength curriculum.
