- Create a highly-challenging goal that results in a product or an outcome.
- Document in a journal what is learned during the process of investigating, planning, and achieving this goal.
- Present a final report that communicates the key components of the process: investigation, planning, taking action, and reflection on learning.
- Achieve a minimum assessment level of "satisfactory" on the report.
- Display the project at the exhibition.
In the elective course, students meet for "class" periodically during Community Time for instruction and work time, especially with the journal entries and reporting about the process of a long-term project. Most work toward the self-designated goal is completed independently.

The highly-challenging goal involves researching mini-golf course design in order to design and create a three hole mini-golf course which I will donate and install at the grounds of our town's library. The product will be the mini-golf course. The final report format will be a podcast summary of the process.
The highly-challenging goal requires mastering sufficient phrases for basic conversational topics in Italian in order to hold a thirty minutes conversation with my grandmother. The product will be a command of language. The final report format will be a written report.
