What will I do to achieve these aims and objectives?

• Select a personally interesting topic
• Identify a Global Context through which to base your inquiry into the topic
• Use prior knowledge of the topic but also select relevant, reliable sources
• Create criteria for the product/outcome (these measure the quality of the work)
• Document your progress and use of skills in a process journal
• Report the product/outcome

Your teacher supervisor will

• Meet with you regularly to provide guidance on the project at each stage
• Assist you in creating a timetable for managing the project
• Offers advice on using and keeping the process journal
• Assist you in identifying a Global Context and selecting a reporting format
• Verifies the authenticity of the work
• Assess the project using the criteria in this guide

Additional support during the process?

• The media specialists can assist you with locating resources to achieve your goal
• Find yourself a mentor! You may engage the help of community mentors knowledgeable about your chosen subject. These might be persons such as a family member, a friend, or a local expert. This mentor is also a source and should be documented on the bibliography page of the report.
• Parents
  • Can be supportive by engaging you in discussions about goals, timeline, sources, etc.
  • Offer help with your time management.
  • May serve as a mentor.
