Don(s) of the month for February!

Sam Scully – ‘22

Over the past couple months Sam Scully has volunteered at Transitions Health Care and Catholic Charities. He has dedicated his time towards various projects including wrapping and delivering Christmas gifts, assisted with elder care, cleaned out a warehouse and assembled meals for the homeless



Kevin Ochab – ‘23

Kevin Ochab has volunteered at Feed My Starving Children 8 times over the past 2 months. FMSC strives to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world. Volunteers hand-pack the meals. Meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world, where kids are fed and lives are saved!

Matthew and Nicholas Roman are examples of true Dons who want to serve. They have continuously reached out to their neighbor, Doris to assist her in any way possible. “They show up with a smile and positive attitude. Their hard work and caring ethics are making a life changing difference in my life.”

Danny and Jimmy Breen volunteered during our winter break from December 23rd to January 3rd, 2022. These Dons spent over 24 hours sanitizing all the rooms and furniture at Jeanine Schultz Memorial School in Park Ridge

The school is a unique and highly effective therapeutic day school for children with exceptional needs between the ages of 4 years old and 21 years old. The school emphasizes the vital importance of relationships in teaching, learning and therapeutic restoration process. The school is a highly structured environment of caring adults for whom true acceptance is the stance taken toward all students.

We acknowledge these 2 Dons for their dedication to St. Isaac’s Food distribution in Niles this year. They have volunteered several times - even during the brutal cold weather we have had. Thank you for your dedication!

Triston Cacal ‘24

Triston Cacal: Since 2011, when Triston created G's Choo Choo, he has collected donations for Advocate Lutheran General Children's Hospital. Triston has shown care and commitment and is devoted to the idea of giving back. He realized one day at the age of 5 that his little brother, Grayson, was not the only kid fighting cancer and may not be home for Christmas. This has become Triston and the Cacal’s own little project of giving back for years and will do so as long they can!

Carlos Cornejos ‘22

Carlos has volunteered with several organizations this past month and has logged 13 service hours! He made dog chew toys for Wright Way Rescue, volunteered at the Niles Holly Jolly Fest & is making blankets for the Night Ministry for homeless teens.



Quinn Gillespie ‘22

Quinn has volunteered with several organizations this past month. He helped clean up Gompers Park, assembles Blessing Bags, volunteered at the Niles Holly Jolly Fest and will be helping at Habitat for Humanity ReStore Shop on December 11th.



Flavio Aly ‘24

Flavio has volunteered 8 hours this past month. He has helped with Blessing Bags, at Wings Resale Shop and Habitat for Humanity ReStore location in Chicago.



Josef Warnicki ‘25

Josef has volunteered 8 hours of service during November. He has helped with the Blessing Bags, Niles Holly Jolly Fest & Wings Resale Shop.



Zachary Miller ‘25

Zachary has volunteered 6 hours with the Cook County Forest Preserve this month. He made a noticeable difference by removing invasive brush from the area.



Kyle Karch ‘25

Kyle has volunteered 5 hours this past month. He has helped with the Blessing Bags, Feed My Starving Children and food packing and distribution for St. Isaacs Church.

Connor Mosele ‘23

Connor is consistently willing to help out and he does it with pose and attentiveness. He is a responsible young man that is able to initiate a task and see it through. I witnessed it at the 2021 Burke Scholar Event.

Nathan Dompke ‘22, Peer Helpers Club


As President of the Peer Helpers Club, Nathan helped facilitate a meaningful and impactful Wellness & Red Ribbon Week. Nathan helped develop and facilitate activities that would engage students on the topic of wellness and help draw awareness to the risks of substance use. Nathan has been a leader in our club for several years and he is always willing to dedicate his time and energy toward serving our community and helping his peers lead healthy and balanced lives.

Brannon volunteered this month at the Wagner Farm Halloween Event. He also helped with his Eagle Scout project that involved installing new playground equipment.

Alex dedicated 10 hours of service at the Wings resale shop this month. WINGS provides victims of domestic violence and their children with safe housing options in and around the Chicagoland area to help end the cycle of violence.

"ten students directed the eighth graders at Saint Eugene School in their Confirmation Retreat. Their presentations were spectacular and very inspirational. Not only did they give up participation in their Spirit Day here, they spent several hours in preparing their talks and other activities for the retreat."

"Luke always volunteers to help Notre Dame Enrollment. Luke gave a personal tour after school, then immediately went to a recruitment fair at his alma mater St. Paul of the Cross on the same night to help recruitment. The family he toured at ND was also at the SPC event and they were so impressed a Senior would give his time like that."
