Recognizing the importance of developing cultural competencies and a global perspective in the 21st century, the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur has organized the International Sisters in STEM Symposium for the Academy’s sister schools in the summer of 2023. The week-long Symposium will educate, empower, and inspire young women to solve issues that transcend borders using a cross-cultural exploration of the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

From July 17-21, 2023, we will be welcoming students and faculty members from our international sister schools to our campus. During this week, Notre Dame Upper School students will engage in problem-solving based courses that creatively address global issues using STEM concepts and skills. Students may work alongside students from Argentina, Canada, Japan, Peru, Taiwan, The United Kingdom, and The United States. Our Middle School students will have the added opportunity of working alongside students from several local middle schools. Overall, roughly 120 students will be guided through project-based learning that celebrates cultural differences as a benefit to collaboratively finding sustainable solutions to complex problems.
