NC State CAC is, first and foremost, a direct service organization. Teleservice, or working from home, is only appropriate for AmeriCorps college advisers in a limited range of circumstances. AmeriCorps College Advisers are strongly encouraged to complete as many hours as possible at their service site.
AmeriCorps College Advisers can serve no more than 5 hours per week performing GRACE data entry as teleservice. Program staff will regularly download adviser data entry reports from GRACE to independently verify hours.
Program staff may offer additional teleservice opportunities for all College Advisers over extended breaks when school sites are closed. Program staff will outline the approved teleservice activities, time allocated, and the process to upload documentation.
Extended Teleservice, defined as teleservice that is more than 5 hours per week, must be requested in advance by the college adviser using the Extended Teleservice Form and approved by program staff.
Extended teleservice may be requested when:
Service sites are closed
Public health emergencies
College adviser health concerns that require that they be away from their service site for an extended period
Requests are reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
