Summer 2022: Me explaining a component of our team's concept map to a fellow MMB student at orientation
The Master of Microbial Biotechnology (MMB) program at NCSU was developed to assess the need for students with a strong education in both biotechnology and business. The MMB program is unique in that students take both PhD-level science courses and MBA courses from NCSU’s Jenkins MBA program. I chose the MMB program because it has a proven track record of graduates with tremendous success and career satisfaction.
My goal while enrolled in the MMB program is to become a more well-rounded candidate through professional networking, industry practicum projects, and internship opportunities. The experience I gain as a part of this program will allow me to successfully manage a variety of tasks requiring proficiency in technical skills, leadership, and communication once I enter the workforce in the Spring of 2024.
Genetics Minor
GPA: 4.0/4.0; Summa Cum Laude
I learned to harness my full academic potential during my undergraduate years at NCSU. I fell in love with science and challenged myself to learn something new each day. For the first time in my life, I became captivated by education. I found myself wanting to learn more about plant sciences, so I added a minor in genetics and gained valuable experience in three different labs- each focusing on separate aspects of biology.
The Crop and Soil Sciences (CSSC) department at NCSU is consistently ranked in the top 10 of CSSC programs in the United States. The world class education I received in the classroom, dovetailed with my three years of lab experience gives me confidence that my overall education has highly prepared me for the workforce.

As a talented baseball player in high school, I was fortunate to be offered the opportunity to continue my athletic career in college. I chose to pursue my dreams of playing professional baseball by enrolling as a student-athlete at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During my 2 years at UNC Charlotte, I learned what it takes to successfully navigate an incredibly busy schedule consisting of both athletic and academic obligations. In addition to time management, I learned how to lead and support teammates throughout various highly competitive activities within our own team and against other programs. College athletics was extremely beneficial to my development as a student because it taught me how to manage time, support others, and perform under pressure at the highest level.
