Session Description:
Open Educational Resources (OER) has emerged as an alternative to the for-profit textbook publishing landscape. Faculty who have adapted OER into their course materials frequently cite concerns over student affordability and opportunities for transformative teaching and learning experiences as the primary drivers for moving away from a commercial textbook.
But where does somebody interested in OER begin? One such place might be the OER Starter Kit. Joining the Libraries was its author, Abbey Elder, Open Access & Scholarly Communication Librarian at Iowa State University, to guide attendees through the processes of getting started with using and creating OER.
