This workshop is for those who are interested in alternatives to the traditional textbook. Open textbooks can increase access to higher education by eliminating student costs and give faculty direct control over their instructional resources.

Suggested Open Repositories
OER Commons is a freely accessible online library consisting of educational materials such as textbooks, modules, videos, and more. Users can also add their own OER content to the repository.
OpenStax publishes freely available high-quality, peer-reviewed, openly licensed college textbooks. Their titles come with additional instructor resources such as LMS integration cartridges, test banks, powerpoint slides and more.
OTL has textbooks licensed by authors and publishers to be freely used and adapted. Titles can be download, edited and distributed at no cost. OTL also has a robust textbook review system whereby titles have detailed reviews made by subject peers at other institutions.
BC provides has a large textbook repository of both locally published material as well as textbooks from other repositories. Supplementary material accompanies the title where available.
Merlot has various OER available within their repository including textbooks, online courses, reference materials from across the different disciplines. Merlot also has a function for a user to contribute OER to their repository.
OASIS is a multi-discipline OER repository consisting of various educational materials such as textbooks, modules, videos, podcasts and much more.
