On August 29th, 2022, I attended my first Teaching Fellows Forum. Going into this forum I was so excited to meet other Teaching Fellows from all years. During this forum we went over what we need to know to be a successful Teaching Fellow, then, we played a get-to-know-you game. This game was so fun and I plan to use it in my future classroom. I had a great time meeting the other Teaching Fellows and became very excited for this new adventure as a Teaching Fellow at NC State.
On September 2nd, 2022, I attended the Teaching Fellow Block Party in the Court of Carolina. There was a raffle, lots of games, hotdogs, and ice cream. This was a great opportunity to build relationships with other Teaching Fellows and staff members in the College of Education.
On October 3rd, 2022, the other first-year Teaching Fellows and I participated in a Microsoft Workshop. I had a lot of fun at this forum because we got to use Microsoft Surface Pros to learn about many platforms that we could implement in our future classrooms. Getting to explore the Surface Pro I learned that there are many tools to use to accommodate every student and classroom situation. This forum opened my eyes to the many positives of technology and I am excited to explore them more in the future.
On November 22nd, 2022, I visited my high school, Apex High, to see the students in the special education classes who I became amazing friends with in high school. During this visit, I reconnected with the teachers and students of the special education classes and participated in gym class with them. This visit was so special to me because in high school I spent a lot of time with these classes and the students in them were the reason why I have chosen to study special education. It was so heartwarming to see everyone again and I am looking forward to going back.
On November 28th, 2022, all Teaching Fellows at NC State attended our end-of-year forum. This was my favorite forum of the year because we had three amazing and inspiring guest speakers. From their speeches, I saw the love these professionals have for teaching and felt their passion as they talked about their experiences. I really enjoyed being a part of this forum and will take away their advice and implement it in my future classroom.
