Carteret County Gardens Maintained by Extension Master Gardener Volunteers
Welcome
Crystal Coast Garden Spots to Enjoy
Extension Master GardenerSM Volunteers in Carteret County help maintain these gardens:
Beaufort Historic Association
Goodness Grows Vegetable Garden at the Carteret County Health Department
Butterfly Garden at Core Sound Waterfowl Museum
The gardens are as diverse in their plantings as they are in their locations across the county. Each garden serves a unique purpose, and images show what is currently in bloom. Click each garden link to learn more.
When considering the plants featured or others you'd like to use in your own landscape, refer to the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map to determine what will grow in your location. Eastern North Carolina, including Carteret County, is in USDA Hardiness Zone 8.
There's so much to see and do in Carteret County whether you live here full-time, part-time, or just visiting, so we hope you will add a visit to one or all of the gardens and experience the beauty in our coastal landscape.
Propagation Team
In addition to maintaining these gardens, EMG Propagation Team volunteers meet weekly to develop and nurture new plants, from stem cuttings and root division, air and ground layering and more.
