NC Middle School Honors Chorus

Auditions will follow the MS Choral Section’s policies and procedures:

1. Singers will sing the audition piece and they may sing from memory or with the sheet music. 

2. Singers will be given a sight reading that will:

   • Be 4 Measures Long

   • Start and End on Tonic/Do

   • Move between Tonic/Do and Dominant/Sol

   • Can include a skip of Do to Mi and/or Mi to Sol ascending or descending 

   • Can include whole, half, quarter, or eighth notes

   • Can include quarter rest.

   • Sight reading for alto and bass will be pitched in the key of C. Soprano and Tenor will be pitched in the key of F. 

3. Adjudicator/Recording will establish the tonal center/Do

4. Students will have up to but no longer than one minute to study 

5. Adjudicator/Recording will re-establish the tonal center/Do and give the tempo.
