The ASII family of products is aimed at automatically analysing the features of satellite imagery and producing metrics that are useful for forecasters. There are now 3 products available in this group ASII (which tries to assign weather feature types to parts of images, e.g. cold front, warm front, cumulonimbus etc.), ASII-TF (which gives the probability of tropopause folding) and ASII-GW (which gives the probability of occurance of gravity waves).
The automatic feature detection has its own plotting script but as a product it is not optimised for use over the tropics and so is not really very useful for use over Africa. The other two products could be useful for forecasting/nowcasting. These are plotted in the same way as the rainfall metrics discussed earlier (using the nwcpy.py script).
