EUMETCast is EUMETSAT’s primary dissemination mechanism for near real-time satellite data and products (and other meteorological and environmental data). It represents EUMETSAT's contribution to the global network of satellite dissemination of environmental data (GEONETCast).
With the appropriate hardware anyone can gain access to a wealth of data being transmitted via the EUMETCast including, near-real-time radiance and reflectance data from a range of geostationary satellites.
There are currently two broadcasts available from EUMETCast.
EUTELSAT™ 10A, Ku-band, supplying coverage across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East
EUTELSAT™ 8 WEST, C-band with European African and western Asia coverage.
The data available via the EUMETCast is much broader than the geostationary satellite data we are focussing on during this training. Below are listed just a few examples of the datasets available via the EUMETCast service.
