Updates / Announcements
August 26th- Welcome back to school! In fifth grade music class your student will be singing, playing instruments, listening to music, studying music history, music theory, and so much more. I will be posting monsthy updates on in the sections below so that way you can see what we are learning about each month. I look forward to making music with your student this year!
Extra Practice
Although your student will not have a lot of music theory homework, your student will be tested over this content in class. If your child would like extra practice on certain concepts or before an exam please reach out to Mrs. May for extra practice worksheets or tutoring. If you visit my Resources page there are music theory practice and lessons there as well.
Students are learning about ledger lines and the Grand Staff. We will continue to have quizzes and practice with notes in Treble and Bass Clef. We will also be learning about music of the Renaissance period and begin our winter musical The Nutcracker.
The 5th and 6th Grade Musical is on Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 5:30.
Students have been working hard to put together their 5th and 6th grade winter musical The Nutcracker over the past few months. We are looking forward to showcasing their work on Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 5:30 pm. Students need to arrive at the music room to prepare for the musical between 5:00-5:10pm. Unlike in past years when students have worn their uniform to their concerts we are asking this year that they wear a costume for the musical. The instructions of what to wear are listed below.
Mrs. Patawaran's class
Students are wearing khaki pants/skirts and a plain white, brown, tan, or black shirt. It may be a T-shirt, dress shirt or polo but it can't have any words or graphics on it. Students may wear black, brown, tan, or white dress shoes or gym shoes. If girls are wearing a skirt they must wear shorts or plain black, navy, brown or tan leggings or tights underneath. Socks should be black or white.
