How to Become a Referee
Provincial Referee
Contact your provincial Referee Chair (NBPL Morgan Armour, Morgan@nbpowerlifting.ca)
A provincial level test will be written first
90% is needed to pass
A practical test will be given at a local or provincial powerlifting meet where 2-3 jury referees will grade you
100 attempts are needed
National Referee
Must be in good standing with the provincial association for at least 2 years
Must be recommended by their province
A national level test must be written
90% is needed to pass
A national level practical test must be taken at a regional or national level powerlifting meet
100 attempts are needed
Can be done over more than one meet if necessary
IPF Category 2
Must have been a national referee for at least 2 years
Must have refereed at least 2 national championships
Must be recommended by their national federation
Must complete a written exam
85% is needed to pass
Must complete a practical exam at a World Championship or Continental Championship
85% is needed to pass
IPF Category 1
Must have been a Category 2 referee for 4 years
Must have refereed at least 4 International championships
Must be nominated by their National Federation
Must complete the Category 1 written exam
Must complete a practical exam at a World Championship, Continental Championship, or Internation Tournament
Must have head refereed 75 attempts
35 must be squats
