Nazareth University partners with organizations to provide their employees/members with a tuition discount — typically 20% — and opportunities for professional development, career advancement, network building, and acquisition of necessary, relevant skills that benefit both the employee and employer. Nazareth's tuition discount for partner employees/members is in addition to any employer tuition benefits. To receive the discount, graduate students must be taking classes in a Master's degree program in the School of Education at Nazareth and be employed or associated with one of our partner organizations. Please see the website for more information.
Graduate assistantships are part-time jobs in campus departments. The jobs provide both financial support and valuable experience to graduate students. Graduate students support faculty/staff in research, special projects, and with administrative duties, in exchange for a partial tuition waiver applicable to that semester. The graduate assistantship is applied to the semester in which the graduate student is registered; if a student is not registered during the semester, they are ineligible to receive a graduate assistantship award. Typically, a student works 10 hours per week during a 15-week semester in exchange for the tuition equivalent of one three-credit course in a fall or spring term. The maximum GA credit awarded for a summer term is 1.5 credits. Assistantships are awarded each semester to both full- and part-time graduate students. Unless otherwise indicated in a particular job description, students are eligible for all assistantships, regardless if the assistantship is sponsored through their particular graduate program's School/College. For more information or to apply, visit the website.
Clinical Assistantships allow full-time graduate students in the School of Education to work with professionals in their field in a clinical setting and gain experience in navigating and collaborating within school systems and communities. Clinical assistants spend about two days a week working in a local public or private school, beginning in the fall, supporting school-based initiatives. This position funds a third of graduate student total tuition cost.
There are a variety of School of Education scholarships available to graduate students, including the Magdalena Callahan Scholarship (for students in the Graduate Literacy Education program), Josephine F. Haire Family Scholarship (for students in Graduate Inclusive Education programs), and the Rochester Guild for Special Children Scholarship (for students in Graduate Inclusive Education programs).
In addition, there is the federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) grant for academically qualified students in initial certification programs who intend to teach a high-need subject in an elementary school or secondary school or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families.
