The Commanding Officer is the highest ranked cadet with the rank of commander (CDR). They are in charge of all cadets in the program. They are to maintain to the highest standard of the units discipline, and standards, update their cadets on anything upcoming, be responsible for cadets and activities taking place, follow out the orders of the SNSI/NSI and practice sound leadership.
The Executive Officer is in charge of all staff members and the unit and is second to the CO with the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). When the CO is absent the XO will take their place until they return. They fall under the orders and act upon the CO's behalf and the SNSI/NSI. They are in charge of leading staff meetings, ensuring that all team commanders are up to par with practices and events that they haven't coming up.
The Command Master Chief is in charge of all enlisted cadets. They take care of disciplinary situations of enlisted cadets and the promotion process, while also being in charge of bringing in reports to the CO. They help assist the CO/XO, help Platoon Commanders and make sure they are maintaining high standers or helping them achieve that and take charge when Officers are not present.
The OPS officer supports the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer by overseeing the unit calendar, preparing the Plan of the Week, coordinating event logistics, ensuring trip requirements are met, and assisting with special projects. They may also fill in as XO when needed and ensure team commanders are proficient in their roles.
The Supply Officer manages inventory, coordinates uniform issuance, conducts regular inventory checks, and ensures supply storerooms are orderly. They oversee uniform cleanliness, recommend items for repair or disposal, and maintain drill equipment. Reporting to both the SNSI/NSI and XO, they play a vital role in supply management and unit readiness.
The Administration Officer manages personnel records, organizes staff meetings, prepares new cadet packets, updates records in CDMIS, and tracks promotions and awards for cadets. They ensure administrative tasks are efficiently handled to support the unit's operations and personnel management.
The platoon leader maintains discipline, appearance, and leadership within their unit, setting an example for uniform standards and conduct. They ensure proficiency in drill and ceremonies, foster leadership development, conduct musters, nominate cadets for recognition, oversee form submissions, assist with instruction, and ensure organizational tidiness.
The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) is responsible for managing communication with school/local media, updating unit social media, maintaining a yearly scrapbook, organizing unit bulletin boards, coordinating slideshows and yearbooks, overseeing photography of unit activities, and assisting with the management of the NJROTC website.
The primary responsibilities of the role involve updating the unit website and calendar while overseeing the department to ensure smooth operation. Secondary duties include ensuring timely updates of signs and addressing any related needs promptly.
Ensure maintenance and upkeep of rifles, swords, and guidons in armories. Coordinate with drill, color guard, and air rifle teams for equipment maintenance and practice opportunities. Promptly repair any damaged ordnance.
