In addition to the NJROTC awards, several outside organizations offer medals and awards to cadets to recognize superior leadership andacademic accomplishment. This list is extensive and changes frequently, therefore it is not published.
Awards are medals and ribbons worn on the uniform to represent significant personal/team accomplishments and contributions. Most NJROTC awards are based on specific criteria identified in the Cadet Field Manual. However, a few awards have additional requirements specified by the Senior Naval Science Instructor. In additions to NJROTC awards, cadets are authorized to wear medals and ribbons awarded by outside organizations that have been approved by Area 12 Manager.
Promotion within the RHSNJROTC is based on several components. The list below gives some details about what is looked at when considering a cadet for promotion.
Components to consider for promotion:
1) Time In Grade
2) Academic Knowledge (academic exam)
3) Practical Knowledge (drill exam)
4) Community / Unit Service Hours
5) Good conduct and uniform grades
6) Positive recommendations from the Cadet's Chain Of Command.
Promotions and awards requirements are tracked electronically. The cadets responsible for tracking the information submit recommendations for advancement or awards to their cadet superior officers, who then forward the recommendations to Chief Warrant Officer Baldwin for final approval.
