It teaches self-discipline and leadership. JROTC is a place to learn and practice leadership skills that will help you become a leader of the future.
It teaches Citizenship, Patriotism, and respect for our Country.
It provides multiple opportunities to earn community services hours.
Students will have regular Academic classes to learn about leadership, history, the Navy, and much more. Students will wear their uniform one day a week. Students will also participate in Drill and Physical Training.
We have nine after school teams for students to join: Drill (with and without rifles and both basic and exhibition), Color Guard, Academics, Air Rifle, and Orienteering (running through the woods, finding your way using a map and compass) and Drones. We are hoping to add additional teams in computers and underwater drones next year.
We take field trips to visit Naval and Marine Bases to tour the bases, ships, and aircraft.
Our teams travel to meets in Northern Florida and Georgia.
We also teach 2 semester Dual-Enrollment classes for Embry-Riddle for drones for Junior and Seniors in NJROTC.
Camaraderie and teamwork.
NJROTC counts for your PE credit and Fine Arts full credit after completing two years in the program.
The goal of NJROTC is NOT to get you to join the Navy. It is an educational program not a recruitment program. Most Cadets do not join the Navy.
If you decide to become a Naval Officer, the Navy offers the opportunity to earn a full scholarship worth approximately $200K.
If you enlist and do two years of NJROTC you start as an E-2 (approximately $300 more a month).
If you enlist and do three years of NJROTC you start as an E-3 in the Navy and Air Force (approximately $400 more a month).
