OUSA Nationally Ranked Events
What are they and how do I get ranked?

Nationally ranked events (NREs) are events that are sanctioned by Orienteering USA. If an individual runs a NRE he or she will receive points for that event, the number of points depend on his or her time.  The daily or rather one race computation for the NRE ranking involves a mathematical iteration method calculation. The annual NRE ranking method requires at least four (4) successfully completed NRE races. 

Orienteering clubs want to provide the opportunity for their members to be nationally ranked. One way to do this is for the club to apply to OUSA requesting to host and run a Nationally Ranked Event in their area. The application is quite involved requiring a lot of detailed information about the location(s), map(s), courses(s), and personnel who will be running the event. This strict application process and regulations ensures the Nationally Ranked Events are maintained and held at the highest standards.

When organizing and running the NRE the club/event director has to follow strict adherence to the regulations set forth for Nationally ranked events. They must be followed at all times. 

All nationally ranked events are published on the OUSA website as well as many local club websites across the nation. A nationally ranked event will draw many people to it. There are many people who want to get ranked, move up the ranks and stay ranked.
