Reading

Read-Alouds: Select books to listen to aloud at justbooksreadaloud.com. Students can listen to stories in different languages, as well. Another great resource for read-alouds is storylineonline.net. You can also log into Evergreen, the Whittemore library's resource, with your library account. As students listen to the story, they should use their reading journals to jot down:

  • Questions they have

  • What is happening in the story

  • Ideas they have about characters and their actions

  • What the author wants us, as readers, to learn at the end of the story

  • Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students can access learning through Khan Academy, as well

  • Lexia is available to all of our elementary students
