Global Cooking Nights

The GELL Center's Global Cooking Nights are back! Join us April 13-16 for evenings full of fun, food, and forays into culture: On Tuesday, April 13th at 6pm, cook along with Richard Smoot and French Club as you create a quiche et salade verte in French. Thursday, April 15th, Spanish Club will lead a cooking demo of Mexican treats such as conchas and paletas at 5pm, while Yiling Yi will give a presentation on Chinese cuisine culture at 7pm. Finally, German Club will host a Schnitzel cook-off at 5pm on Friday, the 16th of April.
For those who would like to cook along on Zoom during the cooking demos from the comfort of your own kitchen (or would like to try them later), recipes and vocabulary will be uploaded in this shared folder. Otherwise, take part in discussions about food culture and history or just enjoy the presentations and discussion on Zoom. All are welcome, so please invite friends and family to cook along!

Global Game Night

This semester, on February 25th from 7-9pm, we will host our second annual
Global Game Night: This time, online over Zoom!

So come and join us! Wander between Breakout Rooms playing various games like Among Us and Doodle in different languages, try your hand at some of them, and stay for a half hour or the full time! We hope to see you there: Let's play!

Fall 2020

If you receive course credit for participating in GELL Center events, please register by clicking the corresponding event button below. This guarantees that your attendance is logged and can be associated with a course and the course instructor. Registration remains open until 30 minutes after the start of the event. Attendance of events hosted in zoom is confirmed by the event host and recorded by GELL Center assistants with the help of the zoom log.

Global Film Series: Transitions

Join us during this last month of the Fall semester for a global film series that explores the times of transition and change in our lives that can transform us in unique and surprising ways.

Global Cooking Nights

Join four different language clubs as they explore and demonstrate traditional dishes! Each club will have an hour to cook a representative dish and talk about it on Zoom, and everyone is welcome to cook along! Visit the Gell Center Bb Learn Events section to download recipes and ingredients lists if you want to join in the cooking chaos, or just come and enjoy some entertaining cooking and cultural exploration. All are welcome!

ConCert Rescheduled to OCt. 22

The Nano Stern concert/presentation has been RESCHEDULED to Thursday October 22 at 4 pm (AZ time).
Nano recently had surgery on his wrist and we want to give him time to heal. We apologize for any inconvenience.
This way, Nano will be able to play con ganas. Also, the new date will be just a few days before the historic plebiscite about changing Chile's constitution, and Nano will have a lot to say about this.
