Advanced Placement (AP) courses are college-level classes offered in high school that challenge students with rigorous academics while helping them build skills for future success. AP courses are designed by the College Board and are taught at an accelerated pace, emphasizing critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving.
Students who enroll in an AP course are required to take the AP exam in May. The AP exam allows students to demonstrate what they have learned and may provide the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement at many colleges and universities, depending on the institution’s policies and the student’s score.
The cost of each AP exam is approximately $100 per exam (exact fees are set annually by the College Board). Fee reductions may be available for students who qualify for financial assistance.
Students who are interested in enrolling in an AP course are expected to attend the course’s informational meeting in February. These meetings provide important details about course expectations, workload, and exam requirements. The meeting schedule will be posted once it is finalized.
AP courses are a strong option for motivated students who are ready for a challenging academic experience and want to prepare for college-level expectations while still in high school.
Below is a list and brief description of AP courses offered at our high school. Course availability may vary by year based on course requests.
